Hiking - Walking: Lavenham Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: light Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 3 Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: 5.5 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Our second longish walk of the Easter weekend - started off with breakfast
in the van at Levington Marina, the tide was low and the wind light and the
dredger is doing the marina entrance. The sun had just started to break
through as we left for Lavenham the medieval wool town some 30 miles away
to do a walk in the AA 50 Walks in Suffolk book :) We parked free near the
church and headed out into the countryside passing the funny named Weaner's
Farm :) and the sun had all but sisappeared away from the coast :( The 5
mile walk on muddy bpaths and bridle ways past nice Suffolk farmland and we
only saw two other walkers and a young lady on a horse :) We stopped for
our picnic by a pond near Abbot's Hall before continuing to the lovely
Brent Eleigh with more timber framed houses and a nice old church crossing
the River Brett. We saw two buzzards before entering a long bridle way
still snowy and muddy !!! We arrived back in Lavenham famous for it's many
brighly coloured old timber framed houses and had a look at the white
Guildhall and town square before heading to the magnificent town church
which we looked around and has fantastic stained glass :) It was then back
to the van for a cuppa and Mag drove home while I dozed !! Back at the
coast the sun was out !!! so a good walk in the Suffolk countryside and
while it be mild enough for a windsurf tomorrow ???
